Whew, it's been a busy year so far. We had a crazy kidding season, with several goats kidding on the same day and 3 kidding at the same time! We lost two beloved does and 4 kids. We're still participating in milk test, did another linear appraisal in August, and have attended 3 shows. We are in the midst of garden season, with canning, freezing & cooking. Jocelyn is applying for vet school and getting ready to head back to OSU next month. We added two new bucklings as replacements for our other bucks, and we are very excited to have them and see what they can do for our herd.
We just got back from Josephine County Fair, where Jocelyn and Shawn did quite well with their goats. Unfortunately, our goats were exposed to something and came home sick, so we've been taking temperatures, medicating and monitoring twice a day. We probably will not do a fair again, as the risk of exposure is too much. A dear friend lost a very special doeling as well.
We are in the midst of making plans for next year's breeding. Tentative plans are up on the website, but are still subject to change.
