5*M Literate Lamanchas Aravis VG87 VEVV RETIRED A/A s1 casein Aravis is doeling #2 of Alanna's triplets. Aravis was the tiniest of the three kids, but she has really filled out and broadened into a very nice doe. She is a very easygoing, mellow girl, very affectionate and fun to handle. She has nice, soft teats and udder, and nice sized orifices, making her super quick and easy to milk. She is not a super milker, but she has the capacity to produce more. She did make her milk star as a yearling. She gave us two very lovely milking daughters (we lost the 3rd one suddenly as a kid), Karana and Alice, in 2019. Aravis appraised as VV++ 83 in August 2015 and VEVV 87 in 2017, with an E in rump and dairy strength. She has matured very nicely and looks better than she ever has. The appraiser's comment was, "that's the rump and back you should have on every goat in your herd." Aravis is bred to *+B Tempo Prestige for March 2024 kids. She freshened on 3/18/24 with one buck and one doe. The doe will be retained and the buck kid is available as a wether. Aravis will now be retiring from breeding, along with Lark. |
1*M Crown-Hill RTW Shylark VG86 +V+V RETIRED
A/E s1 casein
Lark has an enormous (already milked out in this picture, unfortunately), lovely, soft udder. She milks down to nothing, like a soft, deflated glove. She has consistently milked through for me for 2 year cycles ever since I purchased her.
Not only that, but she has a wonderful, sweet personality, though she is fast becoming queen in the herd and keeps everyone in line. She became a favorite as soon as she arrived. One of the reasons we decided to purchase her was because she produced some really lovely kids. We did a repeat breeding to Barnowl Ambroise on 10/28/16. Jocelyn was hoping for a doeling, but unfortunately, Lark only gave us one very large buckling this year. We decided to keep Featherbrained Starbuck as a new herdsire, and we are very glad we did. We have two daughters from his first year, and one just won her restricted leg at her very first show, while the other was first in her class. His daughters continue to impress, with two lovely does freshening in 2020, Karana and Alice. He is putting wonderful toplines and improved udders and teat placement on his daughters. Unfortunately, we lost him last year to a sudden respiratory illness. He lives in in several daughters and granddaughters in our herd.
Unfortunately, on this final pregnancy, Lark developed pregnancy toxemia/ketosis and had to have a C-section at 131 days. There were 5 kids in there, so no wonder she was having a hard time, despite all of our efforts. Two survived the birth, but we were unable to keep them alive, as they were just not developed enough at that point. Lark will now be retired and just enjoy life after she recovers.

SG Olentangy Stingray Hestia 4*M VG86 VEVV **2017 & 2018 ELITE DOE** DNA A/A s1 Casein Hestia is Jocelyn's newest addition, from John Rhodes/Mark Baden. Jocelyn waited two years for this doeling to be born to Eelin. This beautiful girl should be a great addition and improvement to our herd. Her dam was second place dry yearling at the 2015 ADGA Nationals. Hestia and her dam, as well as several relatives, are on both of the 2017 Elite Doe lists, and made the 2018 list once again, in the 99th percentile. Her sire is also on both 2017 Elite Sire lists, as well as the 2018 Elite list. Hestia freshened with a lovely udder. In July 2017, she made the Elite Doe list, in the 99th percentile--quite an accomplishment for a girl that has suffered from Lyme disease. She once again made the November Elite list, dropping a bit to the 95th percentile. She also received her SG designation, PTI 163, 109. She was bitten by a tick and developed Lyme disease, so she wasn't able to be shown. She finally recovered, with time and a long course of LA 200. She still wasn't recovered when we did our LA session, and that affected her score somewhat. Her udder was terribly uneven last year, but she freshened beautifully in 2018, and you would never know she had ever been sick. She is once again on the Elite list for 2018, in the 99th percentile! Hestia is a pleasure to milk, with nicely sized teats and orifices. She has definitely been a wonderful addition to our little herd. Hestia is bred to *B Alder-Grove Renaissance Man for March kids. She kidded with a big single doe kid 9.8#. We are retaining the kid. |
1*M Tuva Acres Eclair **FOR SALE**
Eclair is a very flashy, friendly broken sundgau doe, from Missdee's bloodlines. She is the daughter of Missdee's DN Chocolatine and Missdee's DN Porthos. Eclair was almost sold as a doeling, but I insisted Shawn keep her and freshen her, as she continued to look better and better as she grew. She has turned into a beautiful doe. He wanted to sell her again as soon as she freshened, but she has such a lovely udder, he reconsidered. We are so glad he did. Unfortunately, Eclair has always freshened after our linear appraisal sessions or has been dry, so she has no LA score. Eclair placed Grand Champion Alpine, BOB and Reserve Champion Alpine at the Lelia Berry Memorial Show in July 2018. Eclair is bred to YBNVS Wingnut Chewbacca for March kids. Eclair gave us a single large doe kid. |
1*M Literate Lamanchas Scout VG88 VVEV 6-00
**FOR SALE** DNA verified Scout is the daughter of Matilda and Prestige. Scout is a very long, tall girl, one of the biggest doelings in our herd. She has wattles like her sire. Scout is a curious, friendly girl. Scout was originally for sale, but she is maturing so nicely, Jocelyn decided to keep her and see how she freshened. Unfortunately, Scout injured a precocious udder and developed a staph infection, and she either lost a pregnancy or did not take and was unable to be bred before we felt it was too late in the year. Scout was shown once this year, at the Josephine County Fair. She earned her dry leg with a Grand Champion Junior and BOB in the AOP class, as well as placing RGCH in the second ring. In March 2019, Scout surprised us with quads--3 bucks and a doe, and a gorgeous udder. She milked through for 2020, then surprised us even more with sextuplets (4 surviving kids). She is quite the overachiever. Scout will be milking through for 2024. |
6*M Literate Lamanchas Karana www.adgagenetics.org/PedigreePrint.aspx?RegNumber=L002064652
Karana is a real trooper. A large, wide, strong girl, with a beautiful topline and udder. Karana loves to milk, even after a very rough kidding as a FF. Karana came back strong, despite having a stuck dead kid, a minor uterine tear, and developing a case of coccidiosis after kidding. She has been milked through steadily since 2019.
Karana was our first (and only) successful AI attempt, bred to Shadow Vale Balero for March 2021 kids. She freshened with a single doe kid, O'Dell, who will be retained. We are very excited about her.
We are very pleased that Karana was Reserve Grand Champion Lamancha in all 3 rings in July 2022 at the Lelia Berry Memorial Show at Jackson County Fairgrounds. That lovely, flat, level topline from Starbuck is what did it. Unfortunately, Shawn and Jocelyn were too busy showing 2 breeds to be able to get any pictures.
6*M Literate Lamanchas Alice www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=L002064653 **FOR SALE**
Alice is Karana's littermate sister. Alice is a deep bodied, level doe, built more like her dam than Karana. She also has a lovely udder and was able to be milked through for 2019-2020. She was dried off earlier this year, due to a mild case of mastitis, which has hopefully resolved itself now with dry treatment.
Alice was our "clean-out" doe for buck collection this year, so her kids could be sired by either Chewbacca, Bravo or Wally. DNA willl be done on any kids born, unless they are elf-eared bucks--then they will be wethers.
Alice surprised us and kidded at day 145 with two bucks and two doe. The bucks are elf eared. One doe is gopher eared and will be DNA'd (though she should be Wally's, since he was the only Lamancha buck used on her). The other doe is elf eared and will be available as unregistered.

5*M Featherbrained Serendipity EX90 EEEE 4-00 www.adgagenetics.org/PedigreePrint.aspx?RegNumber=L002064675
Serendipity is a beautiful blue roan girl out of Barnowl J-Karma and *B SG Fir Meadow DNL Falke. Serendipity is a small girl, but very square and correct, with her sire's wonderful feet and legs. She freshened with a lovely udder as well, and we were very happy with her milk record. Serendipity remains dry for 2022.
Serendipity is bred to Goat-San I Am The Walrus for April kids. Serendipity gave us just what I ordered--a buck and two does. The chocolate buck is spoken for, and I will retain both doe kids for the time being.

2*M Tuva Acres Sofia VG86 GEEV 4-00 www.adgagenetics.org/PedigreePrint.aspx?RegNumber=A002064673
Sofia is the stunning solid black daughter of Tuva Acres Eclair and *B Sunrising Charmer Zut Alors. Sofia is a big girl, deep, wide and tall. She has developed an uneven precocious udder, so we are a little concerned as to how she will freshen, but we hope she will even out and have a gorgeous udder like her dam. Sofia remained dry for 2022.
Sofia is bred to YBNVS Wingnut Chewbacca for March kids. Sofia kidded with two big twin doelings, 11# and 9.4#.

Literate Lamanchas Galadriel
Galadriel is daughter of SG Literate Lamanchas Dacey and *B Tempo Prestige. Born in 2020, she was held over and bred in Fall 2021 as a dry yearling. She is a long, tall girl, with a steadily deepening body and level topline. Her udder is wide, deep and well attached. Her teats are a little bit on the outside, but not terribly so. She has been milking very well, outperforming all the other does in the herd and holding steady. We are really pleased with her performance.
Galadriel is bred to Alder-Grove Renaissance Man for April kids.

Literate Lamanchas Mockingjay VG87 VEEV 2-00
Mockingjay (aka Stripes) is another Starbuck daughter with an incredible topline. She is such a smoothly put together girl, wide and strong. We could not choose between her and her sister, Pooh Bear, even though they are very different types, because both have so many good points of their own.
Stripes will be milking through for 2024.

Tuva Acres ZA Nina
Nina is Sofia's other daughter, who very much reminds us of Gallette. Nina is a real pain in the rear, always in your way and wanting attention. Although one of the youngest in the herd, she was large enough to breed last year. She freshened very nicely, with a pretty udder. She just needs some maturity now.
Nina is bred to Pleasant-Grove JM Bravo for March kids. She gave us a single 10# doeling, which will be retained.

Literate Lamanchas Becky G84 VVVG 1-00
**DNA parentage verified**
Becky is the daughter of Polly, our Kastdemur's Aqua Lad daughter, and Starbuck. She is the spitting image of her mother, only better. Becky's nickname is Trouble, because if there was going to be some, she would be the ringleader. We are excited to see how this one matures.
Becky is bred to Tempo Prestige for early April kids. Becky decided not to wait and surprised us with triplets on 3/30. There is one doeling and one wether buck available.

Literate Lamanchas O'Dell G81 VGEA 1-00 **FOR SALE**
O'Dell was our first successful AI kid. O'Dell's sire is Shadow Vale Balero.
We are hoping O'Dell follows in her dam's footsteps. She already looks quite a bit like her dam, Karana. Karana was 3x Reserve Champion at the Lelia Berry Memorial show in July 2022. Karana is a very strong, wide doe, with an amazingly level topline (courtesy of Starbuck). She's been a strong, steady milker as well.
O'Dell is bred to Alder-Grove Renaissance Man for March kids. O'Dell kidded with twins, a buck and a doe, both sundgau. The buck is available as a wether. Doe may be available at a later date.

Mab is Lavender's daughter and full sister to Titania. She is long, level and very smoothly blended throughout. We are excited to see how she matures.
Mab is bred to Goat-San I Am The Walrus for Spring 2024 freshening. Mab gave us 3 lovely doelings, a white, a gold and a chocolate. They will be retained for now, until we have a chance to evaluate our kid crop.

Katerina is our AI daughter out of Sofia and Willow-Run Caesar. Her twin brother, Mikhail (aka Wolfie) will be one of our new junior herdsires. She looks much longer bodied than our other Alpines, and she's also nicely level and smooth. She's a super friendly girl as well. We are very pleased with this outcross so far.
Katerina is bred to Pleasant-Grove JM Bravo for Spring 2024 freshening. Kat continued the trend and gave us 2 doe kids.

Tuva Acres BT Melba G80 GGAG 1-00 **FOR SALE**
**DNA parentage verified**
Melba was supposed to be sold as a family milker, but we keep finding reasons for keeping her around. After freshening, she kept us in milk for the kids and proved to be a strong milker. Next, she was our teaser doe for buck collection. At buck collection, she seemed quite taken by Tempo Aquila Handyman. Lauren kindly offered to breed him to her right there and then. Even though he's not French Alpine, Shawn agreed, surprising me. But seriously, how do you turn down an offer like that? Lauren laughed and said, "Hey girl, I've bought you another year!" Unfortunately, it was a long, tough day for both of them, and she did not take. She is currently dry and open, and is again up for sale. She has been getting nicer as she grows, but we have too many animals to keep another dry animal around for a year, doing nothing. So she is again offered for sale.
